Dr. Lori Schwartz of Counseling Psychologists is a licensed Psychologist and a certified Sex Therapist with over 20 years of experience. Throughout her career, she has been providing professional therapy and psychological evaluations consistently, with over 1,000 evaluations completed for various referral sources.
Her extensive expertise with these evaluations primarily concerns emotional and behavioral conditions in children, adolescents, and adults involved in child custody cases. Through her evaluations, Dr. Schwartz provides requesting parties with accurate diagnoses and appropriate treatment recommendations for both children and adults. Along with her evaluations, Dr. Schwartz has assisted courts with the psychological implications of parenting plans.
Dr. Schwartz routinely speaks at seminars and training workshops for psychology professionals and non-professionals alike. For the past two decades, she has taught at various educational institutions in the Kansas City metro, such as the University of Missouri – Kansas City, Longview Community College, Blue River Community College, Avila University, and Graceland University. Currently, Dr. Schwartz teaches Human Sexuality at Johnson County Community College. By continuing to teach psychology while practicing, Dr. Schwartz maintains the most current education and training on recent research and treatment models.
She has also served on numerous professional psychology boards, such as the Greater Kansas City Psychological Association. Currently, she is a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (a multidisciplinary group with lawyers, judges, psychologists, mental health professionals, mediators, and more who are all involved in family law), the Missouri Psychological Association, and the American Psychological Association.
Beyond her extensive expertise in the fields of clinical and forensic psychology, Dr. Schwartz is also one of the few psychologists located in the Kansas City area who is also a Certified Sex Therapist. She has developed a subspecialty within her practice for the treatment of sexual dysfunction and gender-related concerns in individuals and couples.
Furthermore, Dr. Schwartz is a published author with her highest-acclaimed work published as a chapter in Translating Psychological Research into Practice titled Inhibited Sexual Desire in Women.
